Broken-In Shoes
Fair Park is 277 acres. Closed-toe walking shoes you’ve already worn in — not new sneakers, not sandals.
Clear Bag Recommended

The first weeks of the fair still feel like Texas summer. Normal highs in late September are in the upper 80s, and late-season heat waves into the mid-90s are common.

- Sunscreen — the Midway and livestock areas are largely open to the sky. Apply before you arrive and bring some to reapply. (Aerosol sunscreen has been allowed even though most aerosols are not.)

Closing Week (Mid-October): Layer Up
By the fair’s final week, normal highs drop into the upper 70s and passing cold fronts can bring cooler days and rain. The fair stays open until 9 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday–Saturday, so evenings can feel noticeably cooler than the afternoon.
- A light jacket or zip-up you can tie around your waist or stuff in your bag.
